Boys at Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, a tiny hamlet in upstate New York, are given the day off after a record company request extras for a pop video. It is only on arrival that they learn they are to take part in a Michael Jackson video.
Scenes are also filmed on a commuter train and in a subway station in the Bronx. Martin Scorsese directs Michael’s first video for his upcoming LP, a 16-minute piece called ‘Bad’.
The song and video tell the story of Daryl, a Black youth from the ghetto, who returns home from his private prep school to discover that he no longer quite fits in with his friends from the neighbourhood.
The video is based loosely around a true story.
